I have been in the fitness industry for nearly 9 years now. My journey started off at my local gym as a receptionist. I was overweight as a child due to a massive lack of nutritional knowledge but soon after I started at the gym I managed to lose 3 stone and felt better than ever before! While working on reception I did my level 2 gym qualification and absolutely loved helping people achieve their goals and feeling fantastic! I stayed at that gym for a good couple of years and worked with lots of different types of people.
When the opportunity to go traveling around Australia came up, I jumped on it. That time was some of the best months of my life! Australia was where I really got into fitness classes, like the boot camps on the beach. You couldn't get a nicer setting for a class. I learned a lot out there and still use skills I developed in Australia with my clients here in the UK.
6 months of travelling came to an end and I got straight back in to working in a gym in Henley. I completed my level 3 advanced personal training qualification and then did courses in advanced circuit training, spinning and aqua aerobics. I started up loads of new classes for the members and the feedback was really good.
In 2006 I had my first baby and managed to keep all my work and classes going right up until a week before Charlie arrived! One thing that shocked me was the lack of information or support for pregnant women about what you could and couldn't do while pregnant. This inspired me to book myself straight on to a pre and post natal exercise course. Now I can work with and help all the new mums and mums to be! I built up lots of personal training clients and started a few pre and post natal group classes as well as carrying on with my spinning, circuits and aqua classes.
Before I knew it two years later baby 2 was on the way. This was a totally different pregnancy experience as I was in hospital and at home on bed rest for 14 weeks! I went from training 7 days a week, being really active to not being able to walk faster than a slow stroll. I was 4 stone heavier when baby Lily was born, and she couldn't have come soon enough. Training was back on! With a lot of hard work the weight came off and I got my confidence back.
I had seen James and his Wild training truck down at the park a few times and loved the functional training he was doing and the way he coached his clients. It looked so exciting and different. I knew it was something I wanted to get involved with.
I got in contact with James and we met up to talk about training and if there could be a place for me in the Wild Training team. The more we talked the more it felt like the right thing to do. James asked me to take over the High Wycombe Wild Training franchise. We set up an intensive development plan for me to get up to speed with the Wild Training equipment and techniques. One of the things I love the most about Wild Training is the constant trainer development that James plans and supports us with. I’m learning so much and gaining skills that really benefit my clients.
Young, old, fit, unfit. Wild Training really does cater for everyone and enables anyone to get the most out of every session. Joining Wild Training is easily the best decision I’ve made in the fitness industry. If you haven’t seen it then come and do a session. I can guarantee you’ll be back for more!
